The university takes pride in providing educational opportunities to Texans statewide
Lubbock, TX (Vocus/PRWEB) January 15, 2011
Effective November 1, 2010, the bachelor's degree in university studies, formerly administered by the Office of the Provost, is offered by University College. The degree is a welcome addition to the college's offerings which include the Bachelor of General Studies (BGS) and several wind energy programs.
In addition to being offered on campus, the University College plans to offer the university studies program online and at multiple locations throughout Texas that include Waco, Abilene, and the Hill Country beginning in Spring 2011.
Students currently enrolled in university studies program will continue to follow the catalog in effect when they entered, provided they have been continuously enrolled. New students will use the catalog in effect at the time of admittance. Sarah Foley, Lead Advisor for the University College and the Academic Advising Team will handle all advising needs for university studies students. Current or prospective students can contact her by phone at 806.742.7200, or via E-mail for more information or to make an appointment.
University studies is a unique degree program that allows students to choose three areas of concentration rather than the traditional major and minor. Students will work with a member of the University College Advising Team to determine the combination of concentration areas best suited to individual academic or career goals. Dependent upon the areas of concentration chosen, students will earn either a bachelor of arts or a bachelor of science.
The bachelor's degree in university studies is not a one-size-fits-all degree program. Areas of concentration and the coursework used to build them are as dynamic and versatile as our students' futures. Students are given the opportunity to build a program of study without restrictions by selecting areas of concentration from any of Texas Tech's academic colleges. The choice is up to the individual; with university studies, students can become whatever they want.
The university takes pride in providing educational opportunities to Texans statewide, and the adaptable nature of this degree makes it a perfect fit for individuals with a variety of goals. In addition, application of transfer credits to university studies is easy; it is an ideal choice no matter where you are in life or where your life is located.
