Lighting up the night sky with wish lanterns and good wishes for a loving and happy future

We're excited to bring Wish Lanterns to Atlanta to introduce them to brides, grooms and families and friends involved with planning weddings.

The mass launch of floating lanterns over Atlanta’s Piedmont Park on Sunday night, may have caused many to stop to wonder whether aliens were landing, but the organizer of The Bridal Extravaganza of Atlanta wedding show explains that each lantern carried the good wishes of family and friends for a couple just married.

“Wish Lanterns have traditionally been used in Asia for celebrations and festivals, “said Donna Jakulski, one of Atlanta’s experienced bridal show producers. “We’re excited to bring Wish lanterns to Atlanta to introduce them to brides, grooms, families and friends planning weddings.”

“I am absolutely thrilled to have been selected by The Bridal Extravaganza of Atlanta to have my guests launch these special Wish Lanterns at our wedding reception,“ said the Bride, Monica Arnold, prior to exchanging vows with her groom, Jonathan Croom at Piedmont Park’s Greystone event facility on Sunday. The couple was nominated by their wedding floral designer, Perfect Petals, featured among one of Atlanta’s Best Wedding Professionals at the next Bridal Extravaganza show.

Each Wish Lantern contains a lighted fuel cell that illuminates the lantern and also fills it up with hot air to fly just like a mini hot air balloon. Almost 100 lanterns were lit and released by guests at the wedding, rising in the air for about 12 minutes and going up over a mile in the air.

The release over Atlanta's Piedmont Park was captured and posted to facebook, twitter and the show's web site as it was happening.

“We see them as an exciting new wedding trend that involves all the guests, allowing them to attach their personal good wishes and launch the lanterns together at weddings, “ said Jakulski. “The mass release symbolizes the launch of the bridal couple’s new life and wishes for continued happiness and love.”
