The New York City tech startup community recently welcomed a new member to the family. Launched earlier this year, HeyKiki.com is a social platform helping local trainers, teachers and instructors expand their client base for any activity ranging from sports and fitness to languages, music, and a myriad of creative and performing arts.
HeyKiki was created to get New Yorkers out of their homes and out into the city - learning and engaging in their favorite activities. Everything from piano lessons to yoga to Spanish classes. The site makes it easier for users to find trusted trainers, teachers and instructors in their neighborhood based on student ratings and reviews through targeted referrals from activity preference and geographic location.
Manhattan resident and HeyKiki member, Todd Soffian, uses HeyKiki to find local instructors after moving to NYC from Los Angeles. "One of the hardest things about moving to the city was finding a personal trainer I felt comfortable with. HeyKiki found me a guy two blocks from my apartment…Which was a lifesaver given my schedule."
Once users have connected with the teacher or trainer of their choice through HeyKiki, they can meet offline and start the process of beginning a class regiment. Afterwards, users can submit reviews and rate instructors’ classes to provide feedback for the community, helping the instructor expand local awareness.
Trainers, teachers and instructors can post their classes for free in the HeyKiki directory, allowing members to use neighborhood specific searches to identify them. Additionally, HeyKiki broadens instructor exposure through its social media channels and featured instructor and class promotions.
By connecting members with trusted local instructors, HeyKiki is setting out to make people more active and more interesting versions of themselves, while allowing instructors to increase their earning potential and widen their client base.
All instructors have to do is post a class. HeyKiki takes it from there with no financial risk to instructors.
