Electric and battery-powered buffers and burnishers from Advance meet requirements for sustainable cleaning equipment outlined in the Indoor Environmental Quality section of LEED-EBOM.

Advance burnishers that meet requirements for contributing points to LEED-EBOM certification include the Advance Advolution™ 20BT battery burnisher and the Advance Advolution™ 20XP electric burnisher.

Plymouth, MN (Vocus/PRWEB) January 31, 2011

Advance now offers battery and electric burnishers that meet requirements for sustainable cleaning equipment specified by the Leadership for Energy and Environmental Design for Existing Buildings: Operations and Maintenance Rating System (LEED-EBOM). Advance burnishers that meet requirements for contributing points to LEED-EBOM certification include the Advance Advolution™ 20BT battery burnisher and the Advance Advolution™ 20XP electric burnisher.

The Advolution 20BT and Advolution 20XP burnishers are both available with active dust control and operate at sound levels of less than 70 dBA, which are requirements under the LEED-EBOM program. Burnishers with active dust control include a shroud and vacuum system that keeps dust from spreading during operation and captures dust particulates in a sealed bag onboard the machine. Capturing dust during operation also eliminates the need to dust mop after burnishing hard-floor surfaces.

The purchase of green cleaning equipment is a prerequisite to the Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) Credit 3.4: Green Cleaning – Sustainable Cleaning Equipment of the LEED-EBOM rating system. The requirements established for electric and battery-powered floor buffers and burnishers aim to reduce building contaminants and minimize environmental impact. Buffers and burnishers that are equipped with devices for capturing fine particulates and operate at sound levels of less than 70 dBA meet IEQ Credit 3.4, which helps protect indoor air quality, building finishes and the health of building occupants.

LEED for Existing Buildings-Operations and Maintenance is a voluntary standard for defining, measuring and certifying the sustainability of an existing commercial building. The individual sections and points of LEED-EBOM – including IEQ Credit 3.4 – work together to make up a complete sustainable building. Even if LEED certification is not a goal, it can be a guide toward establishing best practices for reducing the environmental impact of cleaning, improving the indoor environmental quality of buildings and lowering the cost to clean and maintain buildings.
