Two courageous vegans are taking their activism to the streets, highways, backyards, restaurants, and businesses as they attempt to eat at all of the 100 percent vegan restaurants in the country.
“I wanted to find a way to combine my love of travel and my passion for veganism while also dabbling in nomadic lifestyle design. One day I jokingly wrote on my Facebook wall how I’d like to eat at all of the vegan restaurants in the US. So many people responded in support of this idea that I decided to give it a go. I started planning almost immediately, and here we are just a few months later, ready to go,” said Lajeunesse
Both Lajeunesse, a social media and online marketing consultant, and Dussault, an audio engineer, have sold most of their personal belongings, and rearranged their careers and lifestyles in order to live out of a conversion van for the next year.
They not only plan to eat at all of the vegan restaurants they can find but they will be writing and vlogging about their adventure every step of the way. They plan to interview restaurant owners, vegan business owners, and volunteer at farm animal sanctuaries, and participate in other humanitarian work as well.
“We see this as a chance to take advantage of modern technology in a way that will allow us to bring our careers on our journey of celebrating our socio-political voices. We won't have to worry about taking a day out of the office if we need to stand shoulder to shoulder with other citizens in defense of human, animal and environmental rights. Our office will be with us,” said Dussault.
The pair started their journey in Maine and plan to be in Massachusetts this week, New York next month, and continue down the east coast. The trip is tentatively planned to conclude on October 28th, 2012–which is Kristin’s 30th birthday–with a charity party dedicated to raise money for farm animal sanctuaries.
