Senior Lecturer in Psychiatry at the University of Southampton, Dr Julia Sinclair has chosen to extend her clinical work by establishing a private practice at The Manor Clinic
Dr Sinclair is a clinical academic specialising in alcohol use disorders. Her clinical roles include her work as an honorary consultant with a local NHS Trust one day a week, being a Member of the Executive of the Addictions Faculty of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, and involvement in postgraduate education and training.

She has recently contributed to a number of national guidelines on the treatment of addictions including the NICE guidelines on the management of harmful drinking and alcohol dependence.
At the University of Southampton her teaching roles include co-ordinating the alcohol and addiction teaching and year three psychiatry clinical attachments for undergraduate medical students. Her research is clinically focused, investigating how biological, psychological and social mechanisms interact in patients with alcohol use disorders and co-morbid mental illness, and their impact on clinical outcomes. She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and also a founder member of the Wessex Alcohol Research Collaborative.
