Revolutionary app “Soccer Scout” from West Shore Technologies streamlines how coaches scout players and opponents

West Shore Technologies, Inc. today announced the release of SportsBoardTM Soccer Scout, its patent-pending iPad scouting and assessment application for professional, college, high school and youth soccer coaches. SportsBoard Soccer Scout’s ease of use makes it quick and easy for anyone to learn while its intuitive screens mimic the natural note taking scouts already do.

Today’s Problem

Most coaches record assessment data on clipboards or in binders and then (1) can’t read what they wrote, (2) aren’t able to write down everything, (3) aren’t able to easily take photos and link them to the data for each player, (4) don’t have time to put the data into a spreadsheet or database for more thorough analysis, and (5) can’t look at historical data about a player’s performance over a multi-year period.

The Solution

SportsBoard Soccer Scout provides soccer coaches with industry-standard Technical, Tactical, Physical and Psychosocial metrics, as well as features for capturing text notes, voicememos, profile pictures and photos, and footage. Coaches can rate the players on a +/neutral/- or 1-5 basis for any of the metrics during or after the assessment event. SportsBoard Soccer Scout automatically syncs the data to West Shore Technologies’ secure server on the internet where the coaches can login to review and analyze data for decision-making purposes.

“West Shore Technologies is bringing powerful productivity tools to professional coaches that they have never seen before,” states Gregg Jacobs, Founder and Chief Executive Officer. “Coaches can’t buy more time, so they must be smarter with their time to get more done. SportsBoard Scout enables them to spend more time on coaching and strategizing and less on paperwork and administrative tasks pertaining to Scouting, both of which enable them to become more successful on and off their playing venues.”

It Works!

“What I am most excited about is Soccer Scout’s ability to capture assessment data year after year so I can start trending players as they mature physically, mentally and psychologically," states Jay Cooney, Assistant Coach, Stanford Women's Soccer. "There has never before been a database available that addressed player assessment where I could contemplate analyzing data that length of time or longer."

“Soccer Scout provides a better solution for scouting opposition and for assessing talent than anything else out right now,” says Josh Kalkstein, U16 Boys Region IV Head Coach, Olympic Development Program. “It's quick, intuitive and is soccer-specific. Technology is coming into the game more and more and Soccer Scout, without question, is the best soccer scouting App for the iPad."

"I love the fact that there's a voicememo feature to the App, which gives you the ability to record your thoughts in real-time and come back later to input the data," states Tom Ryan, Head Coach, Branson School, a reputable college prep school in Ross, California and inductee to Marin Athletic Foundation Hall of Fame in November 2009.
