Washington, D.C. (PRWEB) October 04, 2011
Rankpad Inc., one of the web companies to emerge from the D.C. start-up scene, announced today the launch of Rankpad. Rankpad is a user-generated platform that allows users to create and vote on rankings in a vast number of categories: from "top NFL quarterbacks of all time", to "best iPhone apps", and more local rankings such as "best teachers at Springfield High". It is integrated with social networks and media, turning ranking into a social and ubiquitous experience.
Rankpad provides users tools to create and compare ranks, share their rankings and votes, and follow friends' activities. Its interface is entertaining and user-friendly, allowing rankings to be created and shared in just a couple of clicks. "We believe people are naturally fascinated by rankings and the web was missing a user-generated ranking site that delivered a truly engaging experience," said Andre Averbug, CEO and founder of Rankpad. "Rankings are not only fun and addictive, but also influence purchase decisions, such as the best cameras to buy or music to download. Users learn about friends' preferences and businesses learn more about their customers."
At its core, Rankpad is a forum for the sharing of tastes and preferences, driven by the wisdom of the crowd. Over time, its goal is to become a rich pool of tastes and opinions. In the upcoming months, Rankpad will be releasing new features focused on deeper integration with social networks. It is also in the process of expanding its revenue model. "We hope to partner with content providers, e-commerce properties and other strategic players to drive revenue," noted Averbug.
