"With the feedback we’re getting from the 20 plus thousand people who have already seen the film, we’re confident that we have something great in this film. It’s Napoleon Dynamite meets Monty Python and the Holy Grail.. The viral film of 2011."

Unicorn City has been named as an "Official Selection" for the 2011 San Diego Film Festival.. This comes on the heels of being selected as the Gen Con 2011 Feature Film of the Year as well as being received with a tremendous amount of enthusiasm at Chicago and Philly Comic Con.
“Unicorn City” follows the life of Voss (Devin McGinn), a passionate Dungeons and Dragons gamer whose life both on and off the gaming tables constantly finds him rolling a one. Banished from the realm of a table-top game created by local comic book shop proprietor Shadow Hawk (Jon Gries - Napoleon Dynamite), Voss calls upon his fellow gamers to shed the shackles of Shadow Hawk’s tyranny and live out their fantasies in a utopia dubbed “Unicorn City.”
Co-Writer and director Bryan Lefler says, "Unicorn City is a happy…magical place. My brother and I just wanted to make people laugh and feel good about them-selves." Unicorn City is doing much more than that. Some are already tagging it the “Viral Film of 2011”. The trailer alone has racked up more than one hundred thousand views on YouTube, outranking Napoleon Dynamite: The Animated Series.
According to executive producer Ken Bretschneider “We’re in conversations with a number of distribution companies, but whether or not we get picked up, we’re still planning to move forward. We’re looking at doing regional distribution in phases. With the feedback we’re getting from the 20 plus thousand people who have already seen the film, we’re confident that we have something great in this film. I hate to call it the perfect film, but Unicorn City really isn’t lacking anything. So much can be said about the script itself. The first time I read it, it took me right back to my youth, which can be said for a lot of people who have seen it. It’s a feel good film and best of all we didn’t have to be crude to get our audience to laugh.”
Viewers nation-wide are comparing Unicorn City to such cult classics as Goonies, Office Space, and Clerks. “It’s Napoleon Dynamite meets Monty Python and the Holy Grail” remarked one recent Gen Con Indy Viewer. Already Unicorn City has over thirty thousand Likes on FaceBook ; mostly by avid gamers, college students, and teenagers who have seen a screening of the film, watched the trailer, or heard about the movie from friends.
Unicorn City is set to screen Thursday September 29th at 8pm and Saturday October, 1st at 12:30pm. Both screenings will be held at the Gas Lamp Theater located at 701 5th Avenue, San Diego, CA and will be hosted by Pacific Coast Magazine.
