The Museum received the UNICEF Medal of Honor in 2004. The judging of the entries for the award will be held between the 15th and 25th of November 2011. The theme of the competition will be “Abandoned Villages,” a work open to free expression and innovative techniques.
A prize of 8,000 € (approximately $10000) will be awarded. The finished piece will be placed, with the collaboration of the sculptor, in ‘El Jardín de Nuestros Pueblos (a commemorative garden for our Abandoned Villages).
Angel Orensanz, an artist well known for the creation of conceptual art, shall present an innovative exhibition entitled “PARADIGMA” at the MADRID Fashion Museum from July 28 to October 30 2011. Organizer: Culture Minister (General Direction of Fine Arts and the fashion museum, CIPE)
This exhibition will invite us, through his colourful sculptures, to observe a constant dialogue between his art and nature. The passive utilization of an interactive landscape and his use of organic geometry generate a dynamic and lyric consequence to his artwork.
This project intends to offer a new approach in the understanding of the historical collections of the MADRID Fashion Museum, CIPE, through the prism of contemporary creativity. In this new regard, the General Directorate for the promotion of Fine Arts attempts to strategically develop a contemporary approach to the interpretation of the historical collections displayed within the National Museums. The Directorate aims to enhance the role of contemporary artists in order to stimulate their activities, encourage various dialogues and enhance artistic innovation through the use of diverse multidisciplinary techniques.
