Spacesaver Corporation achieves GREENGUARD Certification reinforcing our commitment to environmentally responsible product design.

This is one of many strategic initiatives we have launched to promote our sustainable products and fulfill our customers' growing demand for sustainable storage solutions, said Julie Weber, A&D and Environmental Marketing Specialist at Spacesaver.

Spacesaver Corporation, a leading storage solutions provider and innovator of high-density mobile, shelving and storage products, announces GREENGUARD Indoor Air Quality Certification for low emitting products by the GREENGUARD Environmental Institute.

GREENGUARD Environmental Institute (GEI) certifies products and materials for low chemical emissions and provides designers, architects and builders with an important resource for choosing healthier products and materials for indoor environments.

Indoor air quality is a significant concern in today’s built environment. According to the GREENGUARD Environmental Institute, on average, people spend 90% of their time indoors where they are repeatedly exposed to indoor air pollutants; these pollutants come from activities, products and materials we use every day. Additionally, GREENGUARD reports that the air in our homes, offices and schools can be two to five times more polluted, and in some cases 100 times more polluted, than outdoor air.

“Achieving GREENGUARD Certification reinforces our commitment to environmentally responsible product design,” said Julie Weber, A&D and Environmental Marketing Specialist with Spacesaver. “This is one of many strategic initiatives we have launched to promote our sustainable products and fulfill our customers’ growing demand for sustainable storage solutions.”

To achieve GREENGUARD Certification, Spacesaver products had to pass a series of demanding tests required by GEI in order to meet stringent chemical emissions standards established by key public health agencies. Certified products must then undergo quarterly testing to ensure they maintain their low emitting status.

GREENGUARD Certification is a referenced standard for furniture and other interior product manufacturers to be specified in projects based on the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Rating System. LEED is a voluntary, consensus-based national standard for developing high-performance, sustainable buildings. GREENGUARD certified furniture earns points toward a project receiving certification under the LEED for Commercial Interiors program.
