IBISWorld has expanded its industry research report collection to include RTD Mixed Spirit Production and other industries within the food and beverages sector
Los Angeles, California (PRWEB) October 04, 2011
Companies in the RTD Mixed Spirit Production industry are focusing on innovation, as consumers consider cheaper substitutes and input prices shoot up. Firms are expected to expand their product lines and increase their marketing spend in order to draw in new consumers. In 2011, IBISWorld anticipates revenue to recover by 2.6% to $715.6 million. Meanwhile, industry profit has been boosted by significant price increases and the exit of weaker players during the recession.
A weak US dollar has contributed to healthy trade growth. It has also discouraged off-shoring or outsourcing to foreign companies by diminishing the difference in the relative costs of production abroad. Imports are estimated to total $37 million, making up just 5.4% of US demand in 2011. Meanwhile, exports are expected to have increased at an average annualized rate of 3.5% in the five years to end-2011 to total $65.9 million. With the US dollar projected to remain weak compared with other currencies, exports are forecast to grow at an annualized 11.7% in the five years to 2016 to $114.7 million. In particular, sales of RTD cocktails to growing consumers in nearby Mexico and Canada will likely drive this growth.
Niche markets abroad and at home are projected to generate industry growth in the five years. Companies will increasingly focus on marketing healthy products. This trend has been signaled by major player Mike's Hard Lemonade Company and beverage behemoth Fortune Brands' entry into the industry through its purchase of Skinnygirl Spirits. Mike's new product includes all-natural ingredients, and Skinnygirl emphasizes low carbohydrates, which will be two trends to watch for in the coming years. IBISWorld projects that increasing consumer spending will also contribute to 3.2% annualized revenue growth in the five years to 2016, to total $839.3 million.
