TroopSwap.com, a new website that provides military discounts to Veterans, Active Service Members and Military Dependents today announced that they will begin operations in the greater Washington DC metropolitan area on October 4th, 2011. The first e-commerce platform built exclusively for the military community, TroopSwap augments traditional military discounts by presenting offers to members in the popular daily deal format. Founded by two Army Rangers and Harvard Business School Alumni, Matthew Thompson and Blake Hall, the site has attracted over 17,000 users since it’s May 23, 2011 debut in Hampton Roads, Virginia.

TroopSwap further serves the military community by giving 10% of the company’s profits to the Wounded Warrior Project and by exclusively employing military spouses in their local markets for sales and community outreach efforts. Due to this focus, TroopSwap will be formally inducted into the National Military Spouse Employment Partnership (MSEP) at the AUSA Conference on October 10th.
