TroopSwap augments traditional military discounts by presenting offers to members in the popular daily deal format.

Washington, DC (PRWEB) October 04, 2011

TroopSwap.com, a new website that provides military discounts to Veterans, Active Service Members and Military Dependents today announced that they will begin operations in the greater Washington DC metropolitan area on October 4th, 2011. The first e-commerce platform built exclusively for the military community, TroopSwap augments traditional military discounts by presenting offers to members in the popular daily deal format. Founded by two Army Rangers and Harvard Business School Alumni, Matthew Thompson and Blake Hall, the site has attracted over 17,000 users since it’s May 23, 2011 debut in Hampton Roads, Virginia.

Blake Hall, TroopSwap’s CEO, remarked, “By carefully verifying military affiliation for each of our members, TroopSwap is able to source extraordinary deals from merchants. Our expansion into the Washington DC market, led by a team of eight military spouses and TroopSwap’s Vice President of Operations, former Army Ranger Aaron Tiffany, will feature more pro-military businesses to our members while furthering our company’s mission: to reward a life of service.”

TroopSwap further serves the military community by giving 10% of the company’s profits to the Wounded Warrior Project and by exclusively employing military spouses in their local markets for sales and community outreach efforts. Due to this focus, TroopSwap will be formally inducted into the National Military Spouse Employment Partnership (MSEP) at the AUSA Conference on October 10th.

Well-known investors backing TroopSwap include: Frank Monestere, former Green Beret and current President/COO of LegalZoom.com, Paige Craig, former Marine and Founder/CEO of Betterworks.com, Marty Abbott, former Army Officer and CTO of eBay, and Kelly Perdew, former Army Ranger, winner of Season 2 of NBC’s The Apprentice, and CEO of FastPointGames.com. Lieutenant General (RET) Daniel Christman, the former superintendent of the United States Military Academy at West Point, serves as an advisor to the company.
