IDC, Yahoo!, Red Hat, VMware, JQuery, W3C, CommonJS, Wakanda, 4D confirmed as conference speakers

4D, Inc., the leading business software development company, today announced Douglas Crockford, Yahoo! JavaScript architect, champion and leading voice on JavaScript, Al Hilwa, recognized industry technology analyst and program director for IDC’s Application Software Development Research, and Philippe le Hegaret, head of the W3C Interaction Domain, as keynote speakers for the upcoming JavaScript Everywhere conference. At the same time, the company announced that Red Hat, and VMware would participate and present “JavaScript in the Cloud” sessions. The conference – which has over 300 registered attendees – is sponsored by O’Reilly, IDC, Wakanda, SignedOn, Boston.js, and 4D.

The conference recognizes that JavaScript is emerging as an essential technology for rapid development and deployment of business Web and mobile applications. Millions of developers are using JavaScript, and corporate users as well as major technology companies are all adding JavaScript to their portfolio of development technologies.

"The participation of such industry leaders like Yahoo!, IDC, Red Hat and VMware highlights the overall positive industry feedback about the timing and the content of the JavaScript Everywhere conference," said Michel Gerin, Chief Marketing Officer for 4D. "We are excited to have such big companies betting on the success of JavaScript, as it will encourage many other developers – and companies – to get on board."

JavaScript in the Cloud

JavaScript has become one of the most important programming languages of the 21st century, and it is now moving fast to the Cloud.

Red Hat will be demonstrating how to deploy a JavaScript application on the cloud with the back-end framework of your choice, without having to redesign your app to get it to work for a specific cloud provider.

VMware will demonstrate the ease of deploying apps that consume services in the cloud, and moving your application between different clouds with server-side JavaScript.

End-to-end JavaScript with Open Source Project Wakanda

JavaScript is the most widely used programming language, with many successful open source projects, and now its first open source end-to-end solution.

Wakanda is a new open source JavaScript project and the first end-to-end development platform for JavaScript. It’s a fully integrated solution that includes an IDE, a client framework, a datastore and a server, all programmable in JavaScript. The development platform is also fully open and allows developers to integrate with other technologies and databases.

“JavaScript is a community driven language with many very successful open source projects,” said Alexandre Morgaut, JavaScript Evangelist for Wakanda. “I am excited to introduce Wakanda along side of well known JavaScript projects such as jQuery, MongoDB, and Node.js.”

The agenda for the JavaScript Everywhere Conference is now available at [http://wakanday.org/schedule/. The conference is being held October 15, 2011 at the Omni Parker House Hotel, Boston, MA. To register for the event, go to: http://www.wakanday.org/register.

JavaScript Everywhere

The conference includes keynote addresses, technical and business sessions, and late afternoon activities. The event also consists of a wide range of sessions, from JavaScript UI development, NoSQL application development in JavaScript, server-side JavaScript, and new end-to-end JavaScript. As part of the conference, attendees will also be able to participate in a series of Wakanda workshops hosted by Pacific Data Management (PDM). The following tracks have been finalized for speakers:

The Business Case for JavaScript
Server-Side JavaScript (SSJS)
JavaScript in the Cloud
End-to-end JavaScript

The speaker sessions will run 30 minutes. At the end of the day, a panel discussion will cover server-side JavaScript today, and the readiness of JavaScript to displace server-side scripting languages such as PHP and Ruby.

About Wakanday – the “JavaScript Everywhere” Conference
Wakanday is a one-day event designed to show how far JavaScript has come along as a programming language. JavaScript can now successfully be used not only client-side, but also server-side, for database development and everything in between.
