The new feature allows anyone to create an interactive map of available hotels near their wedding, conference or other event easily and free of charge. Guests may then compare all nearby accommodation and book online.

Bedmap ( today announced the release of its new "events" feature. The feature is aimed at the organizers of events such as weddings, conferences, and trade shows, allowing them to provide their guests with a live map of available accommodation in the area. Anyone may create such maps instantly and for free using the service.

Organizers create a hotel map by completing a one-step form on Bedmap's website. They instantly receive two links: one "public" link that is sent to guests, and one "secret" link to keep for themselves. Guests accessing the public link see an annotated map showing the location and details of the event, and the organizer can use the secret link to make changes to the map later.

This represents a departure from the traditional model, where blocks of rooms are reserved or one or two hotels are recommended to guests, who then phone the property individually to book. Instead, with Bedmap's new feature, guests are able to compare all nearby hotels and book instantly online. Guests preferring to book by phone can still do so.

Bedmap, itself launched earlier this year, has garnered praise from media outlets and consumers alike for its fast and intuitive map-based approach to helping travelers find the right hotel. It provides a radically different experience than traditional online travel agencies, and is noted for its value as a comparison tool. All of Bedmap's signature features are available to users of the events feature.

About Bedmap is a Toronto-based startup founded in January 2011, focused on bringing a fresh approach to the process of finding the right hotel. Bedmap combines a very comprehensive hotel database with a simple interface that makes searching it a pleasure. For more information, visit
