EJL Defense & Aerospace, a division of EJL Wireless Research LLC, announces the release of its US Manned Aircraft Market Analysis and Forecast, 1st Edition for FY2012-FY2016. “In terms of total manned aircraft procured within the current budget cycle for FY2012-FY2016, Boeing captured the largest amount with 32% market share, due primarily to the production of the F/A-18 Hornet/Super Hornet, the AH-64D Apache Longbow and the CH-47F Chinook programs while Sikorsky was second with 26% share due to the UH-60M Black Hawk and MH-60R Sea Hawk platforms,” says founder and President, Earl Lum.
The analysis presented in this report focuses on the procurement timing of manned aircraft for the US Air Force, Army, Navy, Marines and Coast Guard and not actual scheduled delivery dates of the aircraft. “The US Air Force is expected to purchased only 13% of the aircraft scheduled through FY2016 but nearly 50% of the total aircraft planned beyond this timeframe. The US Navy is expected to procure the largest percentage of total aircraft with 41% through FY2016,” says Lum.
“Lockheed Martin's F-35 program is the most critical program current underway due to the impact for the Air Force, Navy and Marines. With rising production costs, the program remains the highest risk in terms of budget cuts both in the US and abroad. The F-35A/B/C accounts for 9.6% of total aircraft scheduled to be purchased through FY2016,” says Lum.
