Our soldiers need alternate approaches for treatment to reduce dependency on opiods and their adverse side effects – and to allow optimal opportunity for reintegration into society.

"The good news is that Troops are coming home and Scenar Therapy can help" suggests Ron Stram MD. "But are we ready to care for the growing number of those troops diagnosed with mild Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)? More than ever, soldiers are facing TBI diagnosis and its associated disability of post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Our soldiers need alternate approaches for treatment to reduce dependency on opioids and their adverse side effects – and to allow optimal opportunity for reintegration into society."

Scenar Therapy offers such promise.

What is Scenar?
The Scenar is a hand-held, highly portable and user friendly electro-stimulation device that will send a small and comfortable current across the skin, and at the same time measure the skin resistance to that current. In a bio-feedback mechanism, the current changes frequency and intensity, so the nerves are prevented from habituating to the stimulation, thereby increasing its therapeutic effects. This makes the Scenar different from other electro-stimulating devices.

Scenar Therapy Shows Improvement in Symptoms and Allows for Self Treatment.

"Having used Scenar Therapy at the Center for Integrative Health and Healing in Delmar NY, for approximately one year for various pain syndrome, including neuropathic pain, peripheral neuropathies, acute and chronic back pain and cervical headaches associated with TBI, I have found the outcomes to be quite positive when treatment is delivered consistently. Professional treatments provided weekly by our licensed acupuncturists trained in Scenar Therapy, typically offered relief for patients within 6 to 8 sessions. It became apparent early on that the more frequent the sessions, the quicker our patients responded, therefore prompting patient training sessions for home self-treatment. Training patients or their significant partners to self -treat in the convenience of their own home allowed for treatment flexibility and continuity, providing better outcomes. Scenar treatment is easy to learn. Training sessions for focused areas of pain, or in the case of the TBI patients with cognitive impairment, required only one x thirty minute training session." says Ron Stram MD

Scenar Prescription for Self-Treatment:

  •      Daily, brief usage in the initial treatment phase. (15-20 minutes, 1 to 2 times per day)
  •     Length of treatment: depending on duration and intensity of symptoms, daily treatments from 2 weeks to 3 months
  •     Maintenance therapy: one 15 minute treatment weekly

The Time is Now for Scenar Therapy.

As an authorized Scenar training partner, The Center for Integrative Health and Healing is educating medical professionals, patients and caregivers alike on the efficaciousness and proper use of Scenar Therapy as a viable, non-invasive, non-pharmacological option for the treatment of TBI and other related ailments and injuries. Our veterans with TBI and other patients who suffer from chronic pain are requesting non-pharmacological options for the management of their pain. We are pleased to offer Scenar as an effective adjuvant therapy.
