Nonprofits, schools and chambers can apply to receive funds for energy-efficient upgrades

We want to help our nonprofit partners and schools reduce their energy costs so they can focus their funds on serving our communities’ needs.

First Choice Power is reminding the communities it serves that the last day to apply for its Reduce Your Use Grant™ program this year will be Oct. 15. The grant program awards as much as $2,000 to schools, nonprofits and chambers for energy-efficient upgrades.

“We want to help our nonprofit partners and schools reduce their energy costs so they can focus their funds on serving our communities’ needs,” said Brian Hayduk, president of First Choice Power. “Reduce Your Use Grants allow these organizations to make upgrades that will save significant money long-term on their energy bills.”

First Choice Power awarded more than $60,000 to 54 organizations in spring 2011 through the Reduce Your Use Grant program. The combined savings of the recipients is estimated at more than $100,000 over the next four years.*

To be eligible, organizations must have current or active IRS 501(c)(3) or 501(c)(6) status, be registered with and be in good standing with the appropriate state registration agency and be in a First Choice Power service territory or community where the company has business interest. Schools must also be in a community that First Choice Power serves.

Applications must be submitted only by 5 p.m. on Oct. 15. Only one application per organization or school will be accepted. For more information on previous grant recipient projects and to apply for a grant, visit http://www.FirstChoicePower.com/Reduce.
