we’ve discovered that among the general public, there are many people who are either unfamiliar with physical therapy or assume that it’s only used for rehabilitation after surgery or a significant injury or illness
Kalispell, MT (PRWEB) October 05, 2011
October is National Physical Therapy Month, and Professional Therapy Associates(PTA) is celebrating by offering a complimentary physical therapy consultation to anyone interested in learning how physical therapy can improve their quality of life. With four clinics located throughout the Flathead Valley region, PTA is recognized as a leading provider of physical therapy in Montana. While many PTA patients have already discovered the effectiveness of physical therapy, the PTA team is leveraging National Physical Therapy Month to raise awareness of the benefits of physical therapy among those who haven’t yet experienced it for themselves.
“We’re proud to have established a proven track record of results among our physical therapy patients,” said Blaine Stimac, owner and CEO of Professional Therapy Associates. “However, we’ve discovered that among the general public, there are many people who are either unfamiliar with physical therapy or assume that it’s only used for rehabilitation after surgery or a significant injury or illness. The fact is that physical therapy can help anyone become fitter, stronger, healthier and more agile. It can also provide relief from many different types of pain.”
Stimac noted that National Physical Therapy Month gives practitioners an opportunity to spread the word about the many ways physical therapy can help people. “By offering a free consultation to individuals who have never experienced physical therapy, my team and I are able to introduce our services and demonstrate how we can help patients lead better, more active and more comfortable lives.”
The American Physical Therapy Association designated October as National Physical Therapy Month. This annual event is intended to promote recognition of the important role physical therapists and physical therapist assistants play in helping patients maintain, improve and/or restore mobility. The theme of this year’s celebration is preventing sports injuries across the lifespan; however, PTA is not limiting its free physical therapy consultation to that topic.
“Our complimentary consultation offer is open to all Flathead Valley residents interested in learning how physical therapy can improve their health and overall wellness. We can help everyone from athletes looking to improve their performance and avoid injury, to professionals seeking treatment for repetitive stress issues, to older individuals who are experiencing reduced mobility,” explained Stimac.
In particular, Stimac urges anyone suffering from pain to take advantage of the free consultation. “So many people think body aches are just a fact of life, and that the only solution is over-the-counter medication to alleviate the symptoms. However, they need to realize that pain is not normal, and that ignoring it can actually make the underlying cause worse. We can help eliminate or minimize pain in the back, neck, shoulders, wrists, knees, feet or other joints – without surgery and without drugs.”
The free consultation offered by PTA consists of a 15- to 20-minute session with a licensed physical therapist, who will answer questions about musculoskeletal issues and other health-related topics. The therapist may also provide recommendations on how physical therapy can be used to treat the prospective patient’s existing conditions, or to improve overall health and fitness.
