Students not covered by parents’ policies or school-sponsored plans may not be aware of all their options. We launched StudentHealthPlan.com to show that there is a quality alternative,” said Bill Suneson, Next Generation Insurance Group

Required health insurance policies for college students vary in quality and coverage. Students are often unclear about alternatives or complementary plans. Next Generation Insurance Group(NGI) has launched its standalone, direct-to-consumer student health insurance site, StudentHealthPlan.com, to give students more choice, access to student-specific coverage, flexible payment options and a relevant health insurance solution. The plan is also an appealing option for non-traditional and graduate students who do not have access to the same level of health insurance choices that younger, traditional students do.

The newly enhanced Student Health Plan© policy from NGI features more choice, a new preventative care option, higher limits and broader coverage.

“For good reason, health insurance is often required by colleges. Students not covered by parents’ policies or through school-sponsored plans may not be aware of all their options, though. We launched StudentHealthPlan.com to show that there is a quality alternative,” said Bill Suneson, co-founder and president of Next Generation Insurance Group. “While we developed this health insurance for all college students, it is especially appealing to independent and non-traditional students, who may be transitioning away from employer-sponsored plans or no longer have coverage through parents’ plans.”

Sponsored by College Parents of America, the Student Health Plan helps meet the health insurance needs of students such as:

  •     Graduate students who are no longer eligible for coverage under their parents’ insurance.
  •     Students returning to school after being employed and coming off their employers’ health insurance.
  •     Students enrolled at online universities, which often include career-changers, older students and others with limited insurance options.
  •     Community college students who need or want broader health insurance coverage.
  •     Traditional students looking to complement school-sponsored health insurance or who have medically uninsured parents.

StudentHealthPlan.com also provides coverage options for international students and short-term solutions for new graduates. The plan is available to schools that wish to offer another option to students, and through select health insurance brokers.

The Student Health Plan© from NGI:

  •     Balances coverage (maternity, mental health, prescription drug) with affordability, and includes $5,000 of annual tuition refund insurance from NGI, the first company to broadly offer tuition insurance to all students.
  •     Provides a monthly payment option.
  •     Is available in all states except Oklahoma and Maine.
