What if women marketed back? What if consumers pro-actively used their social media clout to co-create a sustainable, healthy market? While there are unlimited sources for teaching business how to market to consumers there are few sources that teach consumers how to be collaborators in the process.
In Women We Trust will offer high-level speakers and workshop facilitators who are not only knowledgeable in what resonates with women consumers and sustainable practices, but also are social media experts with their own followings.
The bureau and website serves both sides of the consumer buyer/seller equation with emphasis on educating women-at-large who have the power and responsibility to buy better products. "Without buyers, there is no market," says Mary Hunt, one of the co-founders of In Women We Trust, "And now that women dominate social media, they are also the key influencers -- their words can affect the decisions others make for years. Because of that, companies are monitoring every word, we wonder if women only knew how much their opinions were valued would they use Social Media differently?”
Anchoring the project besides Mary Hunt and co-founder, Marianne Richmond are Carolyn Parrs (Women of Green), Diane MacEachern (Big Green Purse) Lynn Ann Miller (Organic Mania and Green Moms Carnival), Harriet Shugarman (Climate Change Mama), Katy Farber (Non-Toxic Kids and Moms Clean Air Force), Lori Popkewitz Alper (Groovy Green Livin), Karen Hanrahan (Best of MotherEarth), Amber Keenoy (LEED AP BD+C), Taiha Wagner (Just One Bite).
In Women We Trust plans to mainstream their message and reach outside of the typical green group thinking by talking to women face-to-face in their communities. The speakers will also be available for business conferences, schools, and universities.
