News 12 Long Island announced today that it will cover more than 150 races and 45 local debates across Nassau and Suffolk counties, once again providing viewers with complete coverage of the issues that matter most to them during election season.

News 12 Long Island announced today that it will cover more than 150 races and 45 local debates across Nassau and Suffolk counties, once again providing viewers with complete coverage of the issues that matter most to them during election season. “Island Vote 2011” coverage will include all legislative district* debates, as well as those for Suffolk County Executive, Town Supervisors and the Glen Cove Mayor.

“News 12 Long Island helps viewers prepare for Election Day by providing the most comprehensive, in-depth coverage of local races, debates and issues impacting the area,” said Pat Dolan, News 12 Long Island News Director. “By delivering our coverage both on television and online, our voters can find important pre-election news quickly on the platform that works best for them.”

The Suffolk County Executive debate will air live on News 12 Long Island on Wednesday, October 26, from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. All other debates can be seen on Saturdays and Sundays, beginning October 8, and also will be available on News 12 Interactive (Channel 612 on iO TV) and News12.com as soon as they are produced, which in some cases may be before they air on News 12. The complete schedule of debates is available at news12.com. Additionally, viewers who are unsure of their district or the specific races taking place in their communities can go to Channel 612 and enter their zip code for instant access to all available debates in their voting district.

In addition to debate coverage, throughout the election season, News 12 Long Island will deliver “Island Vote 2011” reports, highlighting key issues and important developments. And on Election Day, Tuesday, November 8, viewers can expect fast, reliable results and analysis on TV (Channel 712 on iO TV) and on the Web at news12.com. News 12 Long Island anchors Lea Tyrell and Stone Grissom will host the evening, with live coverage beginning at 9:00 p.m.

*There is currently no televised debate scheduled for Suffolk County Legislative District #13, an unopposed race.
