Facing off against a number of strong entries, the original short film "T is for Table" directed by Shane Free, is generating strong buzz as one of the top contenders in "The ABC's of Death" competition, produced by Drafthouse Films.
The “ABC’s of Death” is a feature length anthology horror film project in which 25 established directors have been chosen to make a short film showcasing a death, each based off of a letter of the alphabet. The director for the letter “T” is being chosen via a competition. Aspiring filmmakers have been invited to submit original films of 4 minutes or less.
“T is for Table” tells the story of an estate sale purchase gone wrong. Produced by up-and-coming director Shane Free, of Freestyle Flicks, it is ranked among the top 10 favorite ABC's of Death entries by horror film blog, viewerdiscretionadvised.net.
"The story of two guys toying around with an ancient device and reaping the consequences of such- it reminds me a lot of a "Tales from the Crypt" episode," says Heather Seeback of viewer discretionadvised.net.
Free's lifelong passion for horror films inspired him to develop “T is for Table.”
“I wanted to choose a word that wasn’t threatening," says Free. "My dad actually came up with initial concept and I developed it further and turned it into a thriller with a shocking twist.”
"T is for Table" and all "ABC's of Death" entries can be viewed online and voting will determine which films advance to a final round, in which the 25 directors pick the winner. The top 10 films with the most votes will move on to the final round.
Voting continues through October 31, 2011, and "T is for Table" can be viewed at the link below.
