KeyStone Semiconductor Powers Macostar for World’s First Low-Cost FM/DAB/DAB+/DMB-R Cellular Phone with Color Slide Show

Housed in a compact 1.1 cm x 0.8 cm BGA package, KeyStone Tsunami is world's smallest FM/DAB/DAB+/DMB-R single-chip.

KeyStone Semiconductor Corp. (KeyStone), a fabless semiconductor developer of advanced digital radio technologies announced today that its single-chip FM/DAB/DAB+/DMB-R receiver IC, KSW8650, selected by Macostar Technology Ltd. (Macostar), a professional system and equipment ODM/OEM, is embedded in Macostar’s feature phones for mass production.

MA-11 is world’s first low-cost and low-power mobile phone to support FM/DAB/DAB+/DMB-R with a 2.4” TFT color screen to display QVGA 240 x 320 DAB slide show. Featuring a dual SIM and quad-band 850/900/1800/1900 MHz GSM/GPRS, MA-11 also offers rich multimedia player, Bluetooth, 2.0 M pixel camera, etc.

KeyStone offers a cost-effective and complete DAB/DAB+ turn-key solution that not only meets cellular phones’ cost requirements but also provides on-site technical support to ensure time-to-market requirements. Unlike traditional DAB modules that require different modules to function in master or in slave mode, all of KeyStone’s single-chip modules can act either in master-mode or in slave-mode with a simple firmware upgrade to fit customers’ various design environments.
