Cardinus Warns to Prepare Drivers Now, Winter is on its Way

Cardinus Risk Management says that winter driver training seminars reduce accidents in bad weather. Weather forecasters predict another long, cold winter.

Drivers have been warned to prepare for the early arrival of winter weather and experts have warned of the dangers of driving in snow and ice – dangers that can be avoided by affordable driver training.

Meteorologists are predicting the snow as early as October. Despite the Indian summer we enjoyed in late-September, rapidly-changing weather patterns mean that icy conditions could soon grip the country, heralding the start of another long, hard winter.

The imminent arrival of treacherous driving conditions has led to calls for drivers to be prepared. Companies are being urged to consider driver training as one of the most effective ways to combat the risks and reduce the number of accidents involving their drivers.

Accident rates soar in the winter months, traditionally with the changing of the clocks. This year the first dark evenings could be accompanied by heavy snowfalls, a potentially lethal combination that drivers must be trained to deal with, according to road safety experts.

John Davidge, safe driving expert at Cardinus Risk Management, said, “It’s sensible to look at winter driving safety at this time of year, but the mild September followed by a possible dramatic change means drivers need to be prepared. Some lessons from last winter will be remembered, but the main one is that the drivers who received Cardinus training last year were better-prepared. We know from our records that sensible driving among our customers reduced accidents and probably saved lives.”

Cardinus Risk Management offers three-hour in-house seminars for company car and grey fleet drivers, providing potentially life-saving advice and giving them valuable information on how to prepare for, and deal, with winter driving conditions.

The seminars can be held anywhere in the UK and are designed to be both enjoyable and educational. Up to 25 delegates can attend and the objectives are to provide individuals with an insight into the causes of road accidents and provide a forum for individuals to discuss their own experiences and attitudes to winter driving.
