“We are delighted by the appointment of Doug Rauch as CEO, which marks a significant milestone in the growth of the Conscious Capitalism Movement,” said John Mackey, CEO of Whole Foods Market.

Co-founded in 2010 by Whole Foods Market co-CEO John Mackey and The Container Store CEO Kip Tindell, and others, Conscious Capitalism, Inc. is responsible for catalyzing a CEO peer community, an academic Institute and the emerging Conscious Capitalism Movement. Rauch, who served as president of Trader Joe’s for 16 years, has served on the Conscious Capitalism, Inc. board for the past 18 months.

“We are delighted by the appointment of Doug as CEO, which marks a significant milestone in the growth of the Conscious Capitalism Movement,” said Mackey. “With Doug at the helm, I am confident that the momentum garnered by the Movement in its first years will accelerate rapidly for even broader impact on business and society.”

“Doug brings the perfect balance between serious business acumen and deep commitment to individual and organizational learning, growth and development -- core to Conscious Capitalism,” added Tindell. “In addition to leading Trader Joe’s expansion outside of California and creating their private label business, Doug was the guiding force behind the strong service-based stakeholder-oriented Trader Joe’s culture.”

“I am honored that John, Kip and the rest of the Conscious Capitalism board asked me to serve as CEO and I am delighted to serve such a significant organization,” said Rauch. “I look forward working with the many entrepreneurs and business leaders dedicated to Conscious Business and to advancing its principles and influence.”

Conscious Capitalism promotes the four tenets of Conscious Business: higher purpose, stakeholder orientation, conscious leadership and conscious culture.

Rauch will preside over the organization’s Fifth Annual CEO Summit, to be held on October 12-14, 2011, in Austin, Texas. For more information, visit
