Donnabella Mortel will appear as a co-star on this season of Fox’s hit show, House, M.D. The actress wrapped her episode late last week. This newest credit is added to an impressive and ever-growing list.
Mortel returned to Los Angeles in March after a 5-month stint in Dallas, during which she had been called to two director sessions for NBC’s cop drama, Chase. Building off the momentum in Dallas, and benefits of the breather from the typical Hollywood grind, her arrival back to Los Angeles saw Mortel book supporting roles on Lifetime’s Born Bad and Oliver Stone’s forthcoming film, Savages, based on the best-selling novel by Don Winslow. Include this most recent credit on House, M.D. and it’s apparent that Mortel is quickly climbing up the young-Hollywood pecking order.
While these recent roles were for more dramatic-leaning projects, Mortel’s got more range than your typical beautiful, Hollywood actress. “I like comedy!” said Mortel, a point she’s proved by joining the improv troupe, Hotprov. The Seattle native had also been performing long before she made the drive south to Los Angeles: she was a member of her hometown NBA Seattle SuperSonics Dance Team during the ’06-’07 season.
Undertaking such a variety of performance styles, it’s safe to say Mortel isn’t resting on her laurels. “I've chosen to turn my biggest dreams into a reality. Complacency is not an option,” she said. “You grind and you grind until a spark ignites and then refuse to live lukewarm. I’m loving every second of this exciting journey!”
