Dallas, Texas (PRWEB) October 10, 2011
Solomon Associates’ Kevin Proops has been honored with the Peter G. Andrews Lifetime Service Award at the 2011 National Petrochemical and Refiners Association (NPRA) Q&A and Technology Forum. Proops has served as a project manager in Solomon Associates’ refining group since 2007.
Proops was recognized by NPRA for his long-lasting contributions to the value and vitality of the association. Throughout his career, Proops has demonstrated a willingness to pass on his knowledge and industry expertise to future generations of the forum.
“It is an honor to receive this award from an organization that has benefited from the efforts of so many worthy individuals,” said Proops. “This award has special meaning for me, because Peter Andrews hired me as an engineering intern in 1979; he was a mentor and close friend until his death in 2003. The NPRA plays a critical role in our industry’s continued progress, and I am pleased to have contributed to the Q&A and Technology Forum’s development over the years.”
For Solomon Associates, Proops manages the deep drill-down analysis of energy efficiency, conversion unit yield performance, maintenance, and turnarounds, which has brought new insights to the global refining industry in these critical areas. Prior to joining Solomon Associates, Proops spent 27 years at energy companies including Conoco, Frontier, and Flint Hills Resources.
The NPRA forum is the only meeting of its kind for the petroleum refining and petrochemical industries and related supply and service organizations. It provides a forum for members to discuss operational problems they have experienced and determine best practices for the industry.
NPRA established the award in 2003 in honor of Peter G. Andrews, who for many years was a regular attendee of the Q&A program, representing Conoco and Engelhard. His keen interest in catalytic cracking and the importance of maintaining fundamentally sound operations prompted him to take the lead in session dialogues, and challenged many to rethink their approaches to operational excellence.
This year’s NPRA forum takes place October 10-12 at the JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort & Spa in San Antonio, Texas.
