It’s always wonderful to be recognized for doing something that provides a sense of professional accomplishment; but when individuals that you work with, people who do this type of thing every day, say you did a great job, that makes it really meaningful.

The San Antonio Business Journal has named Generations Federal Credit Union Chief Financial Officer Steve Schipull as their 2011 Community Service Organization CFO of the Year. The award recognizes local Chief Financial Officers for their business leadership, contributions to the company’s reputation and success, community involvement, strategic initiatives and adherence to business ethics.
“It’s hard to express what a tremendous honor it is to receive this award,” said Schipull. “It’s always wonderful to be recognized for doing something that provides a sense of professional accomplishment; but when individuals that you work with, people who do this type of thing every day, say you did a great job, that makes it really meaningful.”
As Chief Financial Officer, Schipull is responsible for enterprise-level discussion and decisions involving business vision and strategy, standardization of best practices, and overall profitability for the Credit Union. Additionally, he serves as the institutional investor for the Credit Union, as well as fiduciary for the credit union’s 401(k) plan and Defined Benefits Plan.
Schipull’s dedication to Generations and to the credit union industry as a whole was singled out in 2009 when he was awarded the CUES Future Leader Award; a prestigious national award that recognizes individuals who will lead the credit union industry through the next generation and beyond. He is a regular contributor, panelist, speaker and prolific author at credit union and non-credit union events and conferences across the country.
“Steve is an integral member of our team and is dedicated not only to the success of Generations, but also to the continued success of our members,” said Generations President and CEO, Tim F. Haegelin. “It has been a tremendous pleasure to watch him grow and develop over the years. This award is truly fitting.”
