This new Electronic Flight Instrument System (EFIS) upgrade -- the 520W -- offers all the desired features in a compact, easily installable package that has the least impact on the flight-deck panel and wiring. Demonstrations will be available at the Rogerson Kratos booth (#C10143) at NBAA show in Las Vegas Oct. 10-12.

Rogerson Kratos today introduced the 520W, a new fully featured flat panel 5 ATI EFIS (Electronic Flight Instrument System) upgrade for business aircraft flying with electromechanical- or CRT-based systems.

The EFIS 520W is designed to offer legacy aircraft all of the desired features available on the latest factory EFIS offerings in a compact, easily installable package that has the least impact on the flight-deck panel and wiring. New features include lateral navigation, WAAS capability, non-precision approach, TCAS II, and Map.

The 520W's easy installation and industry leading low-cost solution offers modernization of the flight deck without overhauling the whole electrical system or scrapping out existing navigation equipment. It also interfaces with the latest avionics, such as the Garmin 430W/530W FMS.

Candidate aircraft include everything from twin turboprops to heavy jets. The 520W solution addresses Learjets, Gulfstream II and III, Beechjets (including DH-125-700 and 800 versions), King Air models, and Dassault and Bombardier Challenger 600 series. This TSO'd product is currently completing STCs on Gulfstream aircraft.

"The new 520W EFIS is a worthy successor in the 520 series with over 3,000 flying in all types of aircraft,” said Michael Rogerson, chairman of Rogerson Kratos. “Employing the latest in navigational aids, and assisting legacy aircraft to comply with FAA mandates, makes this solution a great value addition to any aircraft, especially legacy business jets, which helps extend their useful lives many years."

Rogerson Kratos’ enhanced EFIS 520W offers many new features, including:

  •     Higher-resolution LCD with advanced graphics
  •     Optional configurable external heading course select combined air data and altitude system
  •     Vertical profile with RDR 2000
  •     Advanced RDR-1400/1600 Search-Rescue radar including combined weather and Search 1, 2, and 3 levels of display

The growth path currently planned for the 520W includes full-feature ADS-B and XM Weather Display certified operation.
