InTheAirNetVIP today introduced MAPP WAPP, a breakthrough new wireless entertainment platform that displays passenger maps, plays movies and audio, connects broadband, and recharges smart devices.
Part of InTheAirNetVIP's suite of "Personalized Technology" products, and sharing many components with its wired alternative, this wireless system offers the four key preferences of passenger entertainment: broadband connectivity, on-board media storage, a terrific satellite image map, and recharging. Based on our patent-applied-for Android architecture, MAPP WAPP enables the business passenger to use their PED for all of the uses for which it was designed.
The system consists of a seven-inch master control, usually located in the galley or crew area; an Aircraft Power Entertainment Module for storing media and furnishing power through a USB port; a Wireless Access Point; an Aircraft Interface Module for adding a Passenger Map; and an optional Aircraft Control Module for electronic control of aircraft lights, temperature and shades. These features can be wirelessly operated with an app on the passenger's smart device.
Designed for midsized, as well as larger business jets, it is scalable from 10 passengers to the largest VIP aircraft. It has few components and is installed with minimum time in the shop. Connectivity to different broadband solutions is a key feature. Cellular and satellite services work well with this InTheAirNetVIP platform.
"For the hundreds of aircraft flying with older map systems who want to add Internet connectivity and play their own entertainment offerings, the MAPP WAPP is a platform that will transform the flight experience,” said Michael Rogerson, chairman of InTheAirNetVIP. “It is easy to install, easy to use, and easy on the wallet. This is a breakthrough product which will give many hours of pleasure to the passenger."
