Mobile is quickly changing recruitment, but unfortunately the majority of companies and recruiters don’t realise that yet.

“Companies and recruiters are in danger of losing their ideal candidates and damaging their reputation by not having a mobile recruitment strategy,” according to Mike Taylor from Web Based Recruitment, organisers of Europe’s Mobile & Video in Recruitment Conference.

Taylor has just returned from attending North America’s first conference dedicated to mobile recruiting where he gained an insight into how mobile is being utilised by companies in the US and Canada compared to the UK and Europe.

“I feel that the US and Canada are at a similar stage to the UK and Europe where you have a handful of companies who truly understand the reasons why mobile should be an essential part of a recruitment strategy and the benefits that mobile offers. However, this means that the majority of companies don’t appreciate yet just how much mobile is going to affect them in the coming months and years.”

What About The Mobile Experience?

“Successful online businesses like Amazon and eBay recognised early on that they needed a mobile strategy in place to satisfy the increasing demand from their customers. However, recruitment has been slow to recognise the needs of their own customers (job seekers) in offering a true mobile experience,” continued Taylor.

“Whether companies start to plan now for mobile recruitment or not, they need to realise that by default they already have a mobile presence. For example, any job board, recruitment agency or employer that sends out any “jobs by email” alerts needs to recognise that job seekers are likely to view that email on their mobile phone or mobile device. But what mobile experience will job seekers have when they click on the email link to try and view the vacancy on a website?”

Mobile & Video in Recruitment Conference

To help companies and recruiters understand the role of mobile, and its impact on recruitment going forward, Taylor is running Europe’s second Mobile & Video in Recruitment Conference in London on the 17th November 2011:

The comprehensive conference programme will cover areas such as:

  •     How Smartphones are changing the way people search for jobs
  •     Why you must offer a good user experience or risk losing candidates
  •     Why companies need to act now or risk being left behind
  •     How mobile and video can help you attract the best talent
  •     What other companies are already doing
  •     How to get started

“Mobile is quickly changing recruitment, but unfortunately the majority of companies and recruiters don’t realise that yet. That is why this conference is so important because going forward you simply can’t afford to ignore mobile recruitment.

"The majority of job seekers are already “mobile” and therefore they expect to use their mobile phone to search and apply for jobs. Therefore it is becoming essential that mobile is incorporated as part of an overall recruitment strategy.”
