For years Europeans have made Southeast Asia a favorite destination for world-class golf vacations, and now Kalos Golf is introducing adventurous U.S. golfers to this exotic wonderland, with all the premium comfort of travel by sea cruise.

Kalos Golf, a specialty tour operator that organizes and conducts luxury golf cruises, is launching its inaugural Southeast Asia golf cruises this month. Combining visits to prestigious golf courses and sightseeing tours in Cambodia, Vietnam and Thailand, these are the first such travel packages ever offered by an American travel company.

While Southeast Asia conjures images of ancient temples, bustling markets and colorful customs and culture, the region is less recognized for its pleasant tropical climate, engaging people and rapid growth as one of the world’s premier golf destinations. Noted golf architects like Nick Faldo and Greg Norman have already left their mark in Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand, helping to produce an outstanding collection of courses featuring a variety of challenges and landscapes. For years Europeans have made Southeast Asia a favorite destination for world-class golf vacations, and now Kalos Golf is introducing adventurous U.S. golfers to this exotic wonderland, with all the premium comfort of travel by sea cruise.

In the tradition Kalos Golf has established with their acclaimed tours of Europe, the British Isles and New Zealand, the Southeast Asia golf cruises feature all-inclusive personalized service on board a luxury vessel. The privately chartered, all-suite Orion II accommodates 100 guests in five-star style with ample deck space, two lounges, a health spa, fitness room, sauna, Jacuzzi, library, theater, boutique and hair salon. Travelers enjoy the convenience of arriving at each new destination with all details arranged in advance, free from the burdens of land travel such as packing and unpacking at different hotels each day.

The Kalos Southeast Asia Golf Cruise itineraries bring passengers to an illustrious lineup of the region’s top golf courses. Angkor Golf Resort in Siem Reap, Cambodia, is a magnificent 72 par designed by Nick Faldo and opened in 2007. Van Tri Golf Club in Hanoi is Vietnam’s first exclusively private golf estate, presenting a course carefully designed for harmony with the natural elements. The Nick Faldo design at Ocean Dunes Golf Club in Phan Thiet combines sand dunes, coastal breezes, beach vegetation and sea views to create a fantastic variety of holes presenting an array of strategic decisions. Montgomerie Links in Danang, the only Montgomerie-branded course in Asia, is a links-style layout blessed with truly outstanding natural features.

Beyond the excellent golf, the cruises also include abundant sightseeing opportunities and expertly guided tours. Among the highlights in Cambodia are the awe-inspiring ancient temples of Angkor Wat, Banteay Srei and Ta Prohm near the city of Siem Reap. In Vietnam, passengers will visit the tree-lined streets of Old Saigon in Ho Chi Minh City, historic and fascinating sites in Hanoi, the cosmopolitan merchant center of Hoi An, and the picture-perfect coastal fishing village of Phan Thiet.

Kalos Golf has set its two inaugural Southeast Asia Golf Cruises for October 19-November 3, and October 28-November 9, 2011. Initially only one sailing was announced, but Kalos expanded its plans to meet demand. The company has also arranged optional tour extensions to Bangkok, Thailand and Angkor, Cambodia.

“Our newest destination has proven very popular, which is why we have arranged for this additional cruise in the region,” said Jim Lamont, president of Kalos Golf. “It has been a busy two years in the Kalos office as we develop our Southeast Asia program. My staff and I have traveled several times to the area to refine our plans and prepare for our inaugural cruise to Southeast Asia. The ancient cultures we explore, the scenic countryside that we visit and the impeccable golf courses that we play promise to make this a memorable golf adventure. We’ve already made plans to offer this trip again in January 2013.”
