Remote labs give individuals convenient access to tools and instructors necessary to prepare and study for Juniper Networks certification lab exams

Proteus Networks today announced its Remote Proctored Labs to help individuals prepare for Juniper Networks Certification Program’s (JNCP) hands-on testing scenarios.

To date, existing remote training options have required students to build their own home lab – a very expensive option– or rent a "sandbox" environment where they are burdened with the lab setup, before they can even begin to practice a specific skill. In addition, these labs are missing the critical element of a live instructor to provide instant feedback on student performance.

Now, through the Remote Proctored Labs, one of Proteus Networks remote training programs, students have access to a pre-setup lab environment where they can simply spend time practicing a specific skill and, most importantly, a remote human proctor that is available to answer questions and provide instant feedback on lab activity.

“One of the most important components of a live, in-person classroom and lab environment is the instant feedback students receive from instructors. This has been one of the key pieces missing from today’s asynchronous training options,” stated Joseph Soricelli, CEO, Proteus Networks. “Our Remote Proctored Labs are designed to give people convenient access to the tools and resources – including live instructors – necessary to better understand and prepare for the complex JNCP tests and increase their likelihood of success.”

The Proteus Networks Remote Proctored Labs help prepare individuals for JNCP’s three Junos-based tracks including Service Provider Routing and Switching, Enterprise Routing and Switching and Junos Security. The Labs will also be available for each level within a track beginning with the Juniper Networks Certified Internet Expert (JNCIE) level. Future labs will focus on the Juniper Networks Certified Internet Professional (JNCIP), Juniper Networks Certified Internet Specialists (JNCIS) and Juniper Networks Certified Internet Associate (JNCIA) levels.

Remote Proctored Labs participants receive access to a dedicated, pre-set rack on which to run exercises, a human proctor to evaluate progress and help troubleshoot issues in real-time as well as lab task assignments that will help prepare each person for the steps of the exam process. A dedicated eight-hour block of time is provided to complete the remote practice exam. After completing the Remote Proctored Lab exams, JNCP candidates are provided with feedback on areas of deficiency, while highlighting areas of improvement needed to complete successful certification lab exams and their desired level of Juniper certification.

In order to utilize Proteus Networks Remote Proctored Labs, participants will need Internet connectivity to access the remote lab gear; telnet via a terminal emulation program such as HyperTerminal, SecureCRT, Putty or similar program; and instant messaging or email to be able to communicate with the remote proctor.
