With SWIDTagAssist, corporations can instantly build SWIDTags for all of their installed software titles.

AssetLabs - the leader in on-demand Software Risk Analysis - today announced SWIDTagAssist - a web service that will empower corporations to build and incorporate ISO 19970-2 software tags, is lowering their cost of software asset management and increasing the accuracy and consistency of software identification. Using AssetLab's leading software knowledgebase of over normalized 500,000 titles, IT managers can now instantly build and populate 'SWIDTags' using data from Microsoft SCCM, Altiris, iQuate, Spiceworks, Landesk and other industry leading inventory and management solutions.
"AssetLabs is proud to accelerate the adoption of SWID tags", says Steve O'Halloran, CEO and co-founder of AssetLabs. "To date, one the biggest obstacles to SWIDTag adoption is that tagging was only available during installation of software; meaning that only newer software would be tagged. With SWIDTagAssist, customers can now instantly build SWIDTags for all of their installed software titles - both commercial and internal - regardless of the age of the software and independent of the installation process."
SWIDTagAssist generates XML-based SWIDTags for each unique software title found within the customer's inventory, and uses AssetLab's Knowledgebase and proprietary data normalization processes to populate the SWIDTag with data required for effective SAM management, including: license-type, normalized Product Name normalized version, original & 'acquired' vendor, and other enhanced data elements.
AssetLabs' SWIDTags can be re-deployed back to the desktop and/or incorporated into network management solutions that accept the ISO 19970-2 data specifications to increase accuracy and consistency of software identification.
SWIDTagAssist is included in AssetLab's web-based AssetCheck service at no extra cost and is available from Dell, Compucom, En Pointe and OnX Enterprise Solutions.
