Highlands Ranch Orthodontist, Dr. Gary M. Holt, who has two kids in Douglas County Schools and is a member of the Douglas County School District Educational Foundation and Health Advisory Council is holding his fourth annual Cash-for-Candy school contest.

Dr. Holt recently asked himself the question, "How can I encourage moderate consumption of candy this Halloween season in a fun, positive way that supports keeping your smile healthy and gives back to the community?"

After brainstorming with his daughter Emma, the mastermind behind his Cash-for-Candy promotional videos on his Facebook page, the Cash-for-Candy idea was hatched.

Dr. Holt is encouraging everyone to bring candy by his Highlands Ranch orthodontist office. In partnership with Operation Gratitude, he will be putting care packages together with all the candy you donate. Those care packages will then be shipped to U.S. Service Members who are currently deployed overseas in hostile areas.

In return for the support and generosity Dr. Holt will be giving the school of the candy giver's choice $1 for every pound of candy donated. The school that has the most candy donated in its name will also receive a $250 donation from Dr. Holt's Highlands Ranch Orthodontist office.

"I'm really excited about this opportunity to not only promote habits that support a healthy smile by encouraging moderate candy consumption this Halloween season, but doing so in a fun way that will really make a difference for local schools as well as the men and women who sacrifice for our great country every single day," added Dr. Gary Holt, founder of the new state-of-the-art Highlands Ranch Orthodontist office.

"This is a great idea that will make a difference! I can remember when I was deployed to Afghanistan for twelve months how emotional it was every holiday season knowing I was away from friends and family. The care packages we would get from caring people like Dr. Holt and his patients and friends really meant the world to the men and woman I was serving with," commented Chris White, former Operation Enduring Freedom war veteran.

The Highlands Ranch orthodontist office will be accepting your Cash-for-Candy donation from Monday, October 31st through Friday, November 4th. The contest will end when the coyotes howl as the Halloween witch flies through the full moon sky. Don't be late.
