We’re pleased to be part of encouraging recognition for all the public and private schools who work so hard to improve student achievement and especially the teachers who make it happen.

GlobalScholar today announced that the Department of Education has accepted Performance Series™ as an approved test for schools applying for the Blue Ribbon Schools Program. Schools will be able to begin using Performance Series for the upcoming Blue Ribbon Schools application period, which opens in November.
The Blue Ribbon Schools Program honors public and private elementary, middle, and high schools that are either high performing or have improved student achievement to high levels, especially among disadvantaged students. The program is part of a larger Department of Education effort to identify and disseminate knowledge about best school leadership and teaching practices.
High performing schools are defined as schools who are ranked among a state’s highest performing schools as measured by state assessments in both reading and math, or that score at the highest performance level on tests referenced by national norms in the most recent year tested. Improving schools are schools with at least 40% of their students coming from disadvantaged backgrounds that have reduced the achievement gap by improving student performance to high levels in reading and math on state assessments or tests referenced by national norms in the most recent year tested.
Performance Series is a web-based, computer-adaptive diagnostic test that's reliable, valid, and standards-based. Educators use it to pinpoint proficiency levels instantly, place students in the appropriate programs, report progress, and predict performance on high-stakes tests. The latest release adds tests for Algebra I-II and Geometry – the first adaptive tests available on the market that are developed specifically to assess the knowledge and skills addressed within the Common Core State Standards.
“Schools around the country have been using Performance Series to predict performance and prepare for high-stakes tests for years,” said John Lawler, President of GlobalScholar. “It’s exciting that Performance Series can now also be used to qualify for Blue Ribbon status and we’re pleased to be part of encouraging recognition for all the public and private schools who work so hard to improve student achievement and especially the teachers who make it happen.”
