D&D London launches The Artful Diner, an online space for the Capital’s food lovers!

Leading restaurant group D&D LONDON is launching a new online magazine. Created by Seven, the award-winning content agency, The Artful Diner (http://www.danddlondon.com) has been designed to communicate the group’s food and wine expertise and to give customers an insight into its restaurants behind the scenes.



The Artful Diner aims to be a destination for inspiring and entertaining stories about all aspects of food and wine, from producers and chefs, to recipes and trends, updated daily.

The Artful Diner will communicate to an increasing number of D&D’s customers who in total eat out over 1.5 million times every year in their London venues, and aims to engage and expand D&D LONDON’s database, boosting bookings and increasing open rates for emails, as well as providing a platform for exciting food and wine -based news and features for the individual websites of the group’s 21 restaurants.

Going live today, The Artful Diner will harness the expertise of D&D LONDON’s world-famous chefs and sommeliers, including Tristan Welch, of Launceston Place – previously at Petrus, City Rhodes and Le Gavroche – and Jeremy Lee at the Blueprint Café, formerly at Bibendum. Jeremy is also a successful food writer and has been shortlisted for a national cookery writing award for his work in Guardian Weekend.

As part of the project, each of D&D LONDON’s 21 restaurant sites has had a complete design overhaul. The sites now have their own unique look and feel, powered by a centrally created bespoke CMS system developed and delivered in-house by Seven. Connecting content to commerce, the individual sites will retain direct booking functionality for its diners.

Created for lovers of fine dining, the innovative new channel features a fast-changing mix of stylish food editorial, news, exclusive recipes, videos and picture galleries, as well as articles on London arts and cultural scene. With shareable content across all social media platforms, the Artful Diner is a platform for D&D LONDON to engage with its audience, strengthening the relationship between diners and its restaurants.

D&D LONDON owns and operates 21 of the most famous restaurants in London, including Coq d’Argent, Bluebird, Quaglino’s and Le Pont de la Tour, as well as successful restaurants in Paris, New York, Copenhagen and Tokyo.

As marketing spend continues to migrate from paid media to owned and earned channels, D&D is one of the first high-end restaurant groups in the UK to create its own editorial platform as brands wake up to the growing power of media ownership.

Seven was chosen for its expertise in creating effective content strategies, as well as its crack team of food and digital specialists.

The staff at Seven also work across a wide variety of food-related projects, including newsstand monthly Sainsbury’s Magazine, which sells over three million copies a year and is the only title to have won the coveted PPA Customer Magazine Award three times.

Seven’s digital team also created PROJECT, the world’s first native iPad magazine, a joint collaboration between Virgin Digital Publishing and Seven. Project was No 1 in the US and UK app stores at its launch in November 2010, and was named as one of the top 1% of apps in iMonitor’s 2011 list of Best Publication Apps.
