Appliance version, Integration and cross-platform capabilities highlight 2012 for NXTware Remote and legacy 3GL development.

Today, eCube Systems announced details around its 2011 product roadmap for NXTware Remote, its Eclipse-based cross-platform Remote Development Environment (RDE). The roadmap outlines major releases and product enhancements scheduled through 2012. The plan also includes new releases of NXTware Remote OpenVMS, NXTware Remote RPC, NXTware Remote Web Services, NXTware Remote Appliance and enhanced support for UNIX/ Linux, NonStop.

A highlight of the roadmap is the addition NXTware Remote Appliance to the NXTware Remote family of tools. NXTware Remote Appliance provides a modern development platform for OpenVMS-based engineering organizations on VAX, Alpha and Itanium servers.

Also new to NXTware Remote in 2012, is a customization framework which allows the integration of libraries and custom development tools. This framework allows NXTware Remote users to work in a modern environment while taking advantage of all of the tools and short-cuts they have developments in the past.

Current Version of NXTware Remote

With the release of NXTware Remote 5.0 in the forth quarter of 2011, eCube fulfilled its goal of enabling any legacy development activity or process in a modern Eclipse-based development environment – including enterprise class high speed visual debugging for C/C++, COBOL, FORTRAN, PASCAL and BASIC.

The complexity of the legacy development processes, its non-IDE nature and the uniqueness of proprietary utilities make hiring, training and employee retention both expensive and difficult. NXTware Remote 5.0 succeeds in making it simple for new employees to quickly become productive using what is an already familiar visual environment. In this way, limiting the cost of training and time needed to reach proficiency.

New features and capabilities in 2012

There are 2 major NXTware Remote releases scheduled for the 2011 and several significant updates planed for 2012. 2011-12 NXTware Remote updates include:
