Legal Workshop for Mental Health Professionals

On Nov 4th and Nov 5th, 2011, The Law Firm of Wisselman, Harounian & Associates, PC are pleased to provide a very special complimentary legal workshop with a very special guest.

Mr. David Goldman will speak, firsthand, about the legal and mental health related issues he has dealt with resulting from the abduction of his son, Sean, to Brazil by his wife. He and Sean (then four-years old) were separated for five and a half years until they were finally reunited in 2009 with support from such high level U.S. government officials as New Jersey Congressman Chris Smith, U.S. Senator from New Jersey, Frank R. Lautenberg and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. News of the decision made headlines around the world.

Goldman will describe his legal battles domestically and internationally, and share the emotional impact that the abduction has had on him and his family. Issues to be discussed will include mental health issues related to parental child abduction, the Hague Convention and its enforcement, fathers’ rights/parental alienation and visitation access by family members.

Goldman recently completed a memoir entitled “A Father’s Love, One Man’s Unrelenting Battle to Bring His Abducted Son Home”. It chronicles his ordeal and how his commitment and love for his son helped him stay the path and continue the fight for their eventual reunion. Mr. Goldman will talk about the relevant legal and personal challenges discussed in his book. Signed books will be available for sale on the day of the workshop.

The content and format will be the same on both dates: Friday, November 4th from noon to 3:00 p.m. and Saturday, November 5th from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Port Washington Yacht Club. This workshop is open only to active members of mental health professional associations, as seating is limited. Attendees will be able to request CLE credit from their professional organizations for participating.
