Alfresco, the open platform for social content management, today announced the release of its first official technology certification program for all Alfresco administrators, engineers, partners and the broad array of Alfresco content management professionals around the world.

The new certification program will help expert Alfresco professionals, and the companies that rely on them, to gain accreditation as an Alfresco Certified Engineer and Alfresco Certified Administrator in order to increase overall expertise in Alfresco’s best-of-breed open source enterprise content management technology.

Alfresco certification acknowledges an individual’s advanced understanding and capabilities with the Alfresco platform, and ensures they have the knowledge and skills needed to leverage and maintain Alfresco technology within their respective organizations. Certified Alfresco engineers and administrators will stand out amongst their peers as recognized experts, and can leverage their certification to push their careers to the next level.

“Alfresco technology is relied upon every day by some of the largest, most sophisticated organizations around the globe,” said Barry Duplantis, the vice president of Customer Service at Alfresco. “This program will give organizations a way to identify the best, most expert resources for their business needs, while also elevating and acknowledging top-notch Alfresco engineers and administrators.”

The new certification program will help expert Alfresco professionals and the companies that rely on them to leverage broad expertise in Alfresco’s best-of-breed open source enterprise content management technology.

To create the certification program, Alfresco tapped accreditation partner Pearson VUE. In 2010 Pearson VUE delivered 7.5 million tests worldwide via its global network of over 5,000 centers in 165 countries. Candidates will benefit from a robust online booking process for local test centers, quicker turnaround of results and seamless provisioning of assessment data, all part of Pearson VUE’s management of the program. Pearson VUE’s global network of highly accessible and secure test centers makes the task of gaining Alfresco certification hassle-free for interested candidates.

Alfresco is the first open source content management leader to launch a certification program of this scale. The global certification program further highlights the growing base of customers around the world that rely on Alfresco’s best-in-class content management software to support their mission-critical business operations.

For candidates interested in attaining Alfresco certification, and to learn more about the program, Alfresco is holding training courses and certification tests at its 2nd annual Alfresco DevCon 2011 event in San Diego, CA, on October 25th through 27th, and in London on November 8th through 10th.
