Finding great gifts for friends and family has always been tough. No longer.

WishGenies, releasing today at the Web 2.0 Expo in New York, is the first gift recommendation site powered by both real users and a sophisticated matching algorithm. "Consistently buying great gifts for friends and family is tough," says Jeff Deville, founder and CEO WishGenies. "Just KNOWING your giftee's interests wasn't enough. Knowing my wife enjoys gourmet cooking got me to the right stores, but then what? If you don't SHARE that interest in cooking, you're still out of luck."

WishGenies takes this principle of shared interests, and leverages the power of social media to garner amazing gift recommendations. Community members both ask and respond to gift idea requests, with WishGenies intelligently matching gift requests to the users most qualified to respond to them.

Jeff Deville, the founder of WishGenies, is not allowed to purchase his wife any more gifts that include a power cord. This after desperation led him to give her a Playstation 3 that he tried to pass off as a video downloading machine. 2 years later, WishGenies is ready to prevent others from following in his misguided footsteps.
