A best-selling single of 1983 that topped both the US and UK charts simultaneously, Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean” is a song about a woman who claims that the late singer had fathered one of her twins. Some say that the lyrics of the song was derived from a real-life experience; author Linda Jean Jordan has another point of view. In The Billie Jean Story: The Man in The Mirror, she shares her tale.
From her beginnings in a rural southern town, Billie Jean shows promise when she sings the gospel in church. She is discovered by the reverend’s son, for whom the young girl harbors an infatuation. But her young ambition is crushed when her parents decide to uproot the family and move to a town closer to the city. Soon Billie Jean finds herself married to a man she hardly knows. It is a marriage that she enters blindly, and it is doomed from the beginning. After having two children, Billie Jean goes to live in the city and follow her dreams.
Constantly inspired by the music of Geo Marcus who spotlights the life of Michael Jackson, her true love, Billie Jean begins writing songs that instantly become award-winning hits. From then on, her life would be about writing. Here, she would find an outlet for her creativity and the world would know and love the songs she and Geo shared between themselves.
Readers will follow the inspiring tale of this talented young woman who rose above the challenges in her life to become the successful legend she was to become. The Billie Jean Story narrates the gripping account of this star’s journey, fall, and rise to fame.
