Together with Benchmark, we believe we have an opportunity to help some smaller providers survive and not have to sell to larger players just because they lack the administrative capacity to handle it all.
San Diego, CA (PRWEB) October 13, 2011
Benchmark Revenue Management announced that it has signed a deal and is in the process of implementing its BackOffice solution set for Mercy Cedar Rapids Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The BackOffice includes Denials Management and AR Follow-Up solutions, as well as a full complement of KPI reports and dashboards for management.
“We are extremely excited to be working with Mercy Cedar Rapids,” stated Tyson McDowell, CEO of Benchmark. “We always love to bring our unique workflow and process approach to any facility or enterprise because we know it can accomplish, but this is a particularly energizing opportunity at Mercy, because of the forward thinking of the executive team there. Once we have successfully implemented the workflow and related processes, Mercy plans on taking some of their considerable expertise in revenue cycle and offering it to smaller facilities who simply don’t have that level of resources available. And our technology can help make that a reality.”
Benchmark’s web-based workflow already fits very well with Mercy’s successful program of allowing some of their business office team to work remotely from home. Benchmark will enhance those capabilities by using its workpooling and intelligent transaction handling capabilities to prioritize and distribute work for those teams. And in the near future, it will employ its industry-leading data management capacity to incorporate feeds from other providers and distribute tasks across the same network.
Shawn Steffen, Senior Director of Revenue Cycle at Mercy, said, “This is something we’ve been looking at for some time. We are already handling billing tasks for other providers, but the Benchmark technology allows us to extend our revenue cycle skills to others as well. We haven’t seen another model quite like it, and we are thrilled to be leading the way. It’s an exciting time for revenue cycle professionals, but a very challenging time for small providers, as handling complex denial and follow-up accounts is becoming increasingly difficult. Together with Benchmark, we believe we have an opportunity to help some smaller providers survive and not have to sell to larger players just because they lack the administrative capacity to handle it all.”
Benchmark kicked off the implementation this week with the Cedar Rapids team and plans to live before the end of the year.
