ScreenScape Networks Inc. ("ScreenScape") announced today it recently elected a new Board of Directors. ScreenScape is an online service for engaging audiences in physical places through digital displays. In July, ScreenScape announced that Hartco Inc., Canada's largest IT services company, had invested $6 million in the Charlottetown, PEI-based company.
"The reconstitution of our Board of Directors is in itself a significant milestone for ScreenScape," said company Founder and Chief Operating Officer Mark Hemphill.
Hemphill will continue to serve as Chairman of the Board. Returning to the Board is company President and CEO, Kevin Dwyer, well known for his career as a software sales executive that now spans more than six successful start-ups. Joining Hemphill and Dwyer as new Directors, are Patrick Waid and Carl Gauvreau, both Hartco executives, investment manager Steve Shaver, and Gerry Pond, who is well known for investments in Canadian-based technology companies such as Radian6 and Q1 Labs, and as a veteran of the Canadian telecommunications industry.
"Kevin and I are thrilled to have such high caliber individuals supporting us at the Board level," said Hemphill. What follows is a summary of the six member Board of Directors of ScreenScape along with a brief biography for each member.
Mark Hemphill - Chairman, Chief Operating Officer
Based in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Mark leads ScreenScape in the areas of Operations, Corporate Strategy and Product Marketing. He founded ScreenScape during his time as Professor of Media and Communications at the University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI). Prior to joining UPEI, Mark enjoyed a decade of software industry experience that spanned both technical and managerial roles. He has held positions with German software giant SAP AG™, with leading business to business eCommerce services provider Ariba Inc.™, and with managed services provider Emergis™.
Kevin Dwyer - Director, President & CEO
Based in Mississauga, Ontario, Kevin leads ScreenScape in the areas of Sales and Business Development. Kevin is a seasoned software professional with 30 years of experience in executive management, sales and sales management roles. His primary interest has been in growth-stage companies, having led sales organizations within Sybase, Platinum Software, Open Market, InterWorld and Ariba.
Patrick Waid - Director
Patrick (Pat) Waid is President and Chief Operating Officer with Hartco Inc., a leader in the Canadian information technology business for more than thirty years. Since joining Hartco in 2003, Pat has been responsible for all facets of Hartco’s operations, including organizational leadership, strategic planning, business development, and operational performance. Pat has over 25 years of fast-paced business experience, including sales, operations, and change management.
Carl Gauvreau - Director
Since January 2006, Carl Gauvreau, CA, MBA has been Chief Financial Officer for Hartco Inc., responsible for Hartco’s legal, tax, treasury and financing, investor relations, financial business planning, accounting and reporting, acquisitions and divestitures, real estate and facility management areas.
Previously Carl was with Quebecor World, a public company operating in 17 countries, where he held various senior positions in finance. Prior to that Carl had been working in the auditing practice of KPMG consulting. Carl is the President of the Board of Directors for the Quebec Chapter of Financial Executives International (FEI Canada) and a member of FEI Canada Leadership Council.
Steve Shaver - Director
Steve Shaver is an investor and investment manager based in Oakville, Ontario. Previously he was a Partner at Ernst & Young (E&Y) where he was responsible for managing some of the largest Trust Company insolvencies in Canada on behalf of the federal and provincial governments.
Steve left E&Y in the early 1990s to start his own investment company. He has or has had investment interests in residential development, real estate, magazine and newspaper distribution, canola oil manufacturing, health care technology, and franchising. Mr. Shaver has been on many private company and public company boards in various capacities including compensation committees, governance committees and audit committees.
Gerry Pond - Director
Mr. Pond brings to the Board over 40 years of in-depth experience in the information and communications technology industry. He was the President of Aliant Telecom and CEO of NBTel during a period of significant deregulation in the Canadian industry. Gerry has also proven himself as a leading innovator and has been involved with start-up IT companies such as Q1 Labs, iMagicTV, Brovada Technologies and Radian6.
He has been recognized both nationally and regionally for his accomplishments in business and his tireless contribution to the economic development of Atlantic Canada.
