Redesign improves access to higher education for diverse populations of adult learners.

Saint Leo University, consistently ranked one of the most military friendly colleges in the United States, has now received accolades for its online degree program website (online.saintleo.edu). The Web Marketing Association has awarded Saint Leo University a 2011 Standard of Excellence WebAward for the recently revamped site.

The WebAwards, now in their 15th year, represent the premier annual website competition for the year's best websites in 96 industries. Saint Leo was nominated and honored in the University Category with an overall score of 58.5, nearly eight points above the industry average. A professional panel of judges from around the world applauded Saint Leo's use of original photography, the clean interface and intuitive, easy-to-use navigation.

The website, which went live in the spring of 2011, was created by Elliance, an interactive marketing agency based in Pittsburgh, Pa.

The site caters to online learners, many of whom have full-time jobs and families, serve in the U.S. military, or are military dependents or veterans. Saint Leo's online degree programs offer these non-traditional students flexible options for receiving the same quality education as their campus counterparts.

Saint Leo University ranks as one of the nation's 10 leading providers of higher education to the military, and has been named one of the most military friendly colleges by G.I. Jobs magazine. Online courses, along with Saint Leo's nationwide continuing education centers—many of which are located on military bases—enable the university to uniquely serve the military.

"Saint Leo's new website is streamlined, yet still successful in appealing to our diverse study body,” says Kathryn McFarland, Saint Leo’s Vice President of Enrollment and Online Programs. "We are committed to creating greater accessibility and opportunities for students with a wide range of needs whether they are undergraduate or graduate, domestic or international, military or civilian."
