Mobile Social Fashion App Snapette Announces $1.3M Seed Funding

Snapette Inc., the startup behind the iPhone application that enables fashion-savvy women to discover and share in-store products by location, today announced they have raised $1.3 million in seed funding. Investors in this round include leading Silicon Valley venture capital firms and strategic angels including Brian Lee, the Founder/CEO of Shoedazzle.

Snapette, founded by Harvard grads Jinhee Ahn Kim and Sarah Paiji, just completed super angel Dave McClure’s 500 Startups accelerator program in Silicon Valley.

This round brings total capital raised by Snapette to $1.5 million. The Company will utilize the funds to expand its management team, launch its service across multiple platforms, and incorporate social commerce capabilities.

“The future of shopping and commerce is all about Discovery rather than Search. We are building Snapette from the ground up to lead this movement,” said Paiji.

“We are excited to have secured the support of world caliber investors and advisors to help us move Snapette to the forefront of social commerce,” added Kim.

Snapette is the first mobile application that lets fashion-conscious users to browse products near their current location, allowing them to easily see what shoes, bags and accessories are in nearby stores right now. Fashionistas can also see what brands and items are trending globally, viewing what users around the world are sharing from their favorite stores in real time.

Users launch Snapette from their mobile devices, and are immediately connected to products through social features and crowd-sourced photos and descriptions that others around the globe have shared. Users can search by brand, store or description, or by what’s “New”, “Near” and “Hot”. Through Snapette, users can share photos and comments with other users as well as follow their favorite contributors. Snapette also provides feeds from “featured” boutiques as well as fashion experts.

Snapette has been featured by Apple on iTunes AppStore in the U.S. and across the world, in “New and Noteworthy”, “What’s Hot” as well as “Staff Favorites” categories. Snapette currently has users in over 130 countries.

Snapette will be releasing its app across multiple platforms including the iPad, Android and Windows Phone. The Company will also significantly expand functions available over its website and over social networks.
