Kontribune Engage Allows Communities to Actively Inform, Engage and Inspire their Members through Online Publications

With Kontribune Engage, we are able to invite our entire community to become reporters and publish their personal stories and images.

Kontribune LLC today announced the release of the Kontribune Engage™ community publishing platform, the industry's first solution targeting the needs of community managers, marketing agencies, for-profit and non-profit community groups. Now, with Engage, these groups have access to the combined power of news, social media, community building, and citizen journalism to inform, engage, and inspire their members.

“We started Kontribune because of a belief in the power and value of communities and the impact that they have in our lives,” said Johan Wikman, co-founder of Kontribune. “Kontribune Engage is the first in a line of products being developed with the simple but powerful goal of helping communities thrive.”

Kontribune Engage gives users the ability to generate professional-looking online newspapers and newsletters, use rich media to enhance their publications, and rank, monitor and moderate content. The product also provides users with the ability to customize their publications and employ comprehensive user management and security features. Engage features a built-in ad server that enables users to easily place display advertising, driving revenue for community groups. Additionally, the platform features extensive social media integration with Facebook and Twitter for viral sharing of community content.

“We were looking to actually engage the members of our community, not just blast them with emails and marketing templates,” said Matthew Albracht, Community Manager for Faces of Peace, a project of The Peace Alliance, a 70,000-person international organization. “With Kontribune Engage, we are able to invite our entire community to become reporters and publish their personal stories and images. Engage’s integration with Facebook and Twitter helped us use the power of social media to get our message out to an even wider audience.”

The visionaries behind Kontribune are co-founders Johan Wikman and Paul Remer.

Johan Wikman has 25 years experience in the technology industry holding engineering leadership positions for several startups and Fortune 500 organizations. He has built engineering departments from the ground up and has transformed engineering groups into Agile-based development teams. Prior to Kontribune, Wikman was responsible for transforming and managing a key Zynga game development group -- one of the top ten games in Facebook and top five games within Zynga.

Paul Remer is an entrepreneurial executive with over 25 years experience in executive management and international business development. He has focused on enterprise software and social media start-ups and developed a deep understanding of online advertising and related technologies as well as the unique needs of social media communities.
