National Senior League Names Wii Bowling Coach of the Year

The National Senior League (NSL) has named Tom Gray, Activities Director at Vintage Senior Living at Sierra Pointe its 2011 National Wii Bowling Coach of the Year. Gray directed and managed Vintage Senior Living’s 13 teams competing in the NSL’s Spring Championships and 16 teams playing in the NSL’s Fall Championships.

“Tom’s enthusiasm, management and ability to oversee up to 16 teams demonstrate the leadership skills he possesses,” said Berkholtz. “He is a true champion and we are proud to award him the 2011 NSL National Wii Bowling Coach of the Year.”

The National Senior League (NSL) has named Tom Gray, Activities Director at Vintage Senior Living at Sierra Pointe its 2011 National Wii Bowling Coach of the Year. Gray directed and managed Vintage Senior Living’s 13 teams competing in the NSL’s Spring Championships and 16 teams playing in the NSL’s Fall Championships. Gray will receive his award October 18 at the LeadingAge annual meeting in Washington DC as part of NSL’s Championship match sponsored by Aegis Therapies.

Dennis Berkholtz, president and commissioner of the NSL, recognized Gray as one of the hardest working coaches in the organization’s three year history. “Tom’s enthusiasm, management and ability to oversee up to 16 teams demonstrate the leadership skills he possesses,” said Berkholtz. “He is a true champion and we are proud to award him the 2011 NSL National Wii Bowling Coach of the Year.”

Gray’s Cerritos Falcon team Wii bowled their way to the NSL Championship Division finishing 22nd in the 104 team league while his Burbank Ball Busters are the favorite to win the prestigious Elite Division Championship. Vintage Senior Living recognizes Gray as one of their outstanding activity directors and frequently asks him to train new employees and manage special projects.

The NSL was founded in 2009 by Berkholtz and manages two national Wii bowling championships and a national Wii golf championship each year. Participating teams include continuing care retirement communities, independent senior living communities, assisted living communities, senior centers, rehab centers, +55 communities and affordable housing communities. The 2012 NSL league will include state championships in California, Georgia, Texas, Illinois, Pennsylvania and Florida. Registration will open December 1, 2011.
