This is shaping up to be another break-out fall for Perplexus - Tim Kimber, Owner of PlaSmart Inc.

Perplexus Rookie, the new entry-level version of the break-out hit Perplexus, has been named a Gold 2011 National Parenting Publications Award (NAPPA) winner.

The NAPPA Gold Award is the latest in a series of accolades won by Perplexus Rookie this fall which has also included a Disney Family Fun Top Toy Award and a Toy Insider Hot 20 award earlier this month.

“This is shaping up to be another break-out fall for Perplexus,” said Tim Kimber, Owner of PlaSmart Inc. “The expansion of the Perplexus line-up this fall that includes Perplexus Rookie for those looking for a way to ease into the game, and Perplexus Epic for those who want to experience the ultimate challenge we could provide, has helped introduce the game to a much broader audience.”

“This year’s Children’s Products winners represent an exciting combination of traditional children’s toys, books and games along with virtual products like video games, ebooks and apps,” said Julie Kertes, NAPPA general manager. “Our list of winners, which will be released on November 1, consists of independent, smaller companies; large manufacturers; and everyone in between. We are proud to say that in NAPPA competitions, even the mom ‘n’ pops are recognized for their quality products.”

NAPPA’s independent expert judges evaluated hundreds of submissions for their innovation, entertainment and education values and quality. 75 products were selected to receive the esteemed Gold Award while 93 received Honors and 13 were chosen as “Rising Stars.”

Perplexus from PlaSmart Inc. is the world’s first 3-dimensional marble maze game. Players manoeuvre a small marble around challenging barriers inside a large-sized transparent sphere. Unlike traditional flat-surface mazes that are composed of one path, Perplexus challenges players like no maze has before with numerous paths to choose from and dozens of barriers to overcome offering hours of entertainment and fun. In addition to being an entertaining game, Perplexus is a great tool for cognitive development, encouraging children to exercise their problem-solving, motor and dexterity skills, as well as improving their hand-eye coordination.

There are three Perplexus models, each with a varying degree of difficulty. Perplexus Original with 100 barriers to overcome was launched in 2010. Perplexus Epic, the most challenging Perplexus yet with 125 barriers to overcome launched in 2011. Perplexus Rookie, which also launched in 2011, is for ages 4 to 104 and has 70 barriers to overcome.
